Alpaca Female Calf
Alpaca are ancient domesticated camelids of South America. Due to the period of time in domestication alpacas come in many different colours and sizes and there are 2 distinct types;the Hucaya and the Suri.
We currently have around 30 Alpacas of the Hucaya variety, Alpacas can provide about 3-4 Kg of Fibre per year. They are wonderfully tame animals and are thought to be the oldest domesticated animals in the world dating to pre-Inca times.
Alpacas are very social, herd animals and because of this we prefer to sell animals in groups. Exceptions to this would be for stud males. Through our breeding programme, with temperament in mind and regular 'low stress' handling we have an easy care, quiet herd.
