Esgyrn Guanaco Livestock

At Esgyrn, the welfare of our animals if of the utmost importance. We try to run the farm as close to the 'natural' system as is possible. Guanacos are induced ovulators and can therefore breed at any time of the year. In the wild they have a mating season and then 11.5 months later the females all calve within 2 weeks of each other. We replicate this by organising our
calving for May/June.

Guanacos are very social, herd animals and because of this we prefer to sell animals in groups. Exceptions to this would be for stud males. Through our breeding programme, with temperament in mind and regular 'low stress' handling we have an easy care, quiet herd.

We have recently acquired experience in exporting the Guanaco's and are now able to offer in small quantities Export Breeding herds to suitable locations around the world.

We have always believed in sustainable farming with an emphasis on the animals welfare and the health of the ecology of the farm. We are constantly reviewing our management practices to ensure we and the animals receive the best results. A natural progression of this was to get official recognition of these systems soWe have been licensed as an organic farm since 2000 we are currently licensed with Organic Farmers and Growers. If you are interested in acquiring Guanaco please do get in touch. Enjoy your visit.
